Bockenfield Country Park, Northumberland – Secured detailed planning permission for a major expansion of a holiday park in the Northumberland countryside. Permission was granted for 48 extra static caravans with access road, parking and a new bridge within a greenfield part of the Client's land ownership. There were a number of issues to address given the sensitive nature of the site in open countryside with large numbers of mature trees, wildlife and a river running through the centre of the site. The site is also accessed direct from the A1 Trunk Road so transport issues were also a key matter. The scheme that was developed concentrated caravans towards the rear of the site in grassland areas to minimise the impact on existing tree cover and wildlife. The detailed planning application that was submitted included a detailed analysis of all key issues covering planning policy; ecology; transport; flood risk; and drainage.
