Case Studies
Jon Tweddell Planning Limited has successfully secured planning permission on a wide range of projects.
The page below identifies specific case studies to demonstrate the type of work that clients have appointed the business to carry out on their behalf:
Monkseaton Medical Centre, Whitley Bay – Won a Planning Appeal on behalf of their Client, MediX Property and Ansley Developments for a new Medical Centre and Pharmacy at Monkseaton Medical Centre, Whitley Bay. North Tyneside Council originally refused the planning application on design and parking grounds.
In the Appeal submission, lodged by JTPL, the Appellants argued that they would deliver a well designed, high quality replacement building with additional parking. The existing site already contains a Medical Centre but is not fit for purpose following a large increase in the Centre's patient list. A new, modern facility, with a new pharmacy is required to cater for the existing patients.
JTPL also pursued a costs claim against the Council and argued that they had been unreasonable in refusing the planning application because their refusal reasons were without foundation. The Secretary of State agreed, and granted an Order for a full award of Costs. For the full press release, click here.

40 Unit Housing Scheme, Linton – JTPL collated and submitted a planning application on behalf of their client. Outline planning permission has been granted for 40 houses on this commercial site in Linton. The application was recommended for refusal by Planning Officers but at the public hearing, JTPL were able to persuade the Elected Councillors to approve the application.
Bockenfield Country Park, Northumberland – Permission was granted for 48 extra static caravans with access road, parking and a new bridge within the client's land ownership.
There were a number of issues to address given the sensitive nature of the site in open countryside with large numbers of mature trees, wildlife and a river running through the centre of the site.
The site is also accessed direct from the A1 Trunk Road so transport issues were also a key matter. The scheme that was developed concentrated caravans towards the rear of the site in grassland areas to minimise the impact on existing tree cover and wildlife.
The detailed planning application that was submitted included a detailed analysis of all key issues covering planning policy, ecology, transport, flood risk and drainage.

Barn Conversions – Recent permissions granted for residential barn conversions in East Thirston and Cresswell, Northumberland. Schemes included elements of demolition and modern new-build. JTPL has also negotiated successful planning permissions in sensitive locations such as conservation areas and listed buildings.
